Trucker Is Pepper Sprayed And Tasered After Raging At Love’s
Madisonville, Kentucky – An enraged truck driver was pepper sprayed and tasered after refusing to comply with law enforcement Monday in Madisonville.
According to the Madisonville Police Department (MPD), 49-year-old Tyrone Purce has been charged with DUI, resisting arrest, second-degree disorderly conduct and third-degree assault following a confrontation with authorities.
Officers said they received a complaint in the early morning hours about a man at Love’s Truck Stop located at 325 Veterans Drive in Hanson, KY who was “screaming and beating on the counter.”
Following that incident, the man later identified as Purce, left the truck stop in his semi-truck.
Purce then took the I-69 Exit 114 to turn onto Brown, and then onto Eastside Lane, where authorities received another complaint of a semi driving erratically, MPD reported.
Authorities were able to catch up with Purce at approximately 5 a.m., officials said.
MPD officers reported Purce initially refused to comply with their commands to stop.
However, after stopping and exiting his semi-truck, police said Purce began cursing and yelling.
Officers said they instructed Purce to comply, but he walked away from them.
After Purce kicked the cruiser door and window, MPD said officers deployed pepper spray and tasers to subdue Purce.
Authorities then took Purce into custody where he is now facing a series of charges.
