Trucker Killed by Teenage Motorist While Inspecting Disabled Rig Along Mass Pike

Boston, MA – A trucker was killed by a teenage motorist on Friday along the Massachusetts Turnpike.

According to the Massachusetts State Police (MSP), a 30-year-old trucker from West New York, NJ was westbound when an “equipment malfunction” forced him to pull to the side of the highway near the Cambridge Street Overpass.

The truck driver was inspecting his rig when a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze, driven by a 17-year-old, struck two passenger vehicles before colliding with the tractor-trailer.

The trucker was left pinned between the passenger vehicle and the big rig, investigators said.

He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

MSP has not yet released his identity.

The teenage driver, whose identity officials also have not released, was taken to St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center with minor injuries.

No other injuries were reported.

The accident remains under investigation by MSP Troop H, the MSP Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the MSP Crime Scene Services Section and the Suffolk County State Police Detective Unit.
