Trucker Nowhere to be Found When Dozens of Illegal Migrants Discovered Near Burned Reefer

Laredo, TX – A trucker was nowhere to be found when border officials discovered a charred refrigerated trailer and dozens of illegal migrants last weekend.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), agents were notified in the early morning hours of August 29 that a semi-trailer was burning along Highway 59, approximately 18 miles east of Laredo.

When agents arrived, they noticed the trailer seal had been cut and someone had opened the doors.

Agents then searched the area and found 64 illegal immigrants hiding in the brush nearby.

CBP said the individuals were from the countries of Guatemala and Mexico and were uninjured.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
