Trucker Perishes in Crash Involving Two Big Rigs and a Toppled Traffic Sign

Murfreesboro, TN – A 57-year-old trucker perished yesterday in a crash involving two big rigs and a toppled traffic sign along a Tennessee interstate.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), the deadly accident occurred shortly before 4:30 p.m. in the westbound lanes of Interstate 24 near mile marker 78.

THP investigators said Brian Barcorft, 50, of Brush Creek, TN, was operating a tractor-trailer westbound when he lost control and struck an overhead traffic sign before running off the right side of the roadway.

The sign fell directly into the path of a tractor-trailer also operating westbound and driven by Eric Kinman-Wygal, 57, of Jackson, TN.

Kinman-Wygal was unable to avoid striking the sign causing him to also lose control, overturn and travel off of the right side of the interstate.

Sadly, Kinman-Wygal was pronounced deceased at the scene, THP confirmed.

According to Kinman-Wygal’s social media profile, he was a driver for Milan, TN-based Milan Express.

Barcorft was uninjured.

THP closed a stretch of westbound I-24 as crews worked to clear the scene.

Delays were reported well into the overnight hours.

It is unclear at this time what caused Barcorft to lose control.

THP said it is still investigating the incident.
