Trucker Says ‘Piece of Fruit’ Caused Him to Wreck Big Rig
Lansing, MI – A trucker blamed a piece of fruit for a crash early Friday morning along a Michigan interstate.
According to Michigan State Police, at approximately 6:57 a.m., officers with the Lansing Post were dispatched to a tractor-trailer wreck westbound on Interstate 96 near M-100.
Upon arriving, MSP investigators discovered a big rig ran off the roadway and into a ditch before jackknifing and striking multiple trees.

Images released from the scene reveal the extent of the damaged to the mangled white tractor.
“Driver of the semi truck advised he was eating a piece of fruit and began choking,” MSP said.
The truck driver was not identified.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
The right lane was closed for a few hours as emergency crews worked to clear the area.
