
Trucker Shot Dead By Motorist During Highway Confrontation
Florence, SC – A logging truck driver was shot dead by a motorist on Monday afternoon in a confrontation along US Highway 76.
Investigators with the Florence County Sherrif’s Office (FCSO) are investigating a fatal shooting which occurred at approximately 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the intersection of East Palmetto Street (US Highway 76) and Old Marion Highway.
According to investigators, the driver of a logging truck, Charles Everett Williams, Jr. 56, of Conway, got out of his vehicle and threatened the driver of a passenger vehicle with a weapon.
In response, the driver of the passenger vehicle shot and killed Williams, FCSO said.
It is unclear at this time what led to the confrontation.
No arrest has been made but the incident remains under investigation, FCSO said.
A GoFundMe account has been set up to assist with Williams’ funeral expenses.
