Trucker vs Trucker Road Rage Battle Lands One Driver In Jail After Pulling Gun
Schodack, New York – New York State Police (NYSP) have arrested and charged a truck driver with numerous crimes after he allegedly pulled a handgun on a fellow trucker on Wednesday during a road rage incident.
According to an NYSP release, the incident occurred on June 5, at approximately 6:13 a.m..
Authorities said they stopped a tractor-trailer on the Berkshire Spur section of I-90 at Exit B1, after receiving a report of a road rage incident.
The reporting person, a fellow trucker, alleged that while he was driving his rig westbound on the Berkshire Spur in the town of Schodack, another male driving a tractor with Minnesota plates, pointed a handgun at him.
Investigators said that upon interviewing the alleged suspect, they determined probable cause to search the truck.
Troopers found a loaded 9MM Smith & Wesson in the cab of the truck.
The driver, Dominque D. Newell, 27, of Laurel, MS, was taken into custody, transported and processed at SP Albany where he was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree (loaded firearm other than a person’s home); a Class C Felony and Menacing 2nd degree; a Class A Misdemeanor.
Newell was arraigned in the Town of Schodack Court and is being held at Rensselaer County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash or bond.
His next court appearance is scheduled for June 12 at 5:00 p.m.
Police have not provided any additional information about what led to the confrontation.
