Trucker Wanted by Police After 7-Vehicle Crash and Dash
East Lyme, CT – Connecticut State Police (CSP) say a trucker caused an accident that set off a 7-vehicle chain reaction crash on Thursday along I-95 and then fled the scene.
CSP has not provided many details about the incident.
However, officials report the crashes occurred at approximately 5:58 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-95 in the Town of East Lyme.
Investigators at the scene say a tractor-trailer was traveling in the right lane of two when it merged into a passenger vehicle which was traveling in the left lane.
The impact from the collision caused the passenger vehicle to become disabled.
CSP reports the big rig then “evaded the scene.”
As a result of the first crash, four additional passenger vehicles and a tractor-trailer then collided with each other, CSP says.
Authorities are searching for the trucker who fled the scene as he is wanted for questioning.
CSP has not given a description of the big rig.
No serious injuries were reported.
This is a developing story.
