TruckerNation Comment Drive Aimed at Making “Direct Impact on Regulatory Change”

Dallas, TX – Trucker advocacy group, TruckerNation, will be hosting a comment drive during this week’s Great American Truck Show in Dallas hoping to encourage more trucker’s to get involved in the regulatory process.

During each day of the show from August 22-24, TruckerNation will be set up in both the main lobby and booth 2815 where they will have available all the resources stakeholders may need to make a public comment on any of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) open federal dockets.

Andrea Marks, Director of Communications with TruckerNation, told Transportation Nation Network (TNN) the comment drive is “an effort to encourage drivers to leverage their voices and have a direct impact on regulatory change.”

TruckerNation will have laptops available for anyone who wants to make a comment via, pre addressed and stamped envelopes for those that might wish to mail in a comment, pre printed fax cover sheets to aid in faxing in comments, and tips for making comments at public listening sessions.

“We wanted to remove as many barriers as possible that may prevent a driver from speaking up,” Marks said.

Additionally, TruckerNation also provides the industry’s only set of how-to guides that are tailored specifically to each federal docket, according to Marks.

“We extract all the pertinent information from the federal docket and put it all in one easy to read and easy to access place. We are confident that more stakeholders are likely to participate in public comment periods if they were simply educated on the process and given resources to assist them in being successful,” she commented.

Marks is hoping that with the recent announcement of the FMCSA’s proposed changes to the hours of service rule, more truckers will get involved and sound off through the regulatory process instead of just on social media or at truck stops.

“We hope that making this public commenting opportunity available to drivers that we can get some good quality comments on the docket and show them how easy it can be to get involved,” Marks said.

She hopes drivers will stop by at any time below to make a comment.
