Trucker’s “Illegal Pass” of Tractor-Trailer Leads to Deadly Head-On Crash
Price Canyon, UT – A motorist lost his life in a horrifying crash with a big rig Friday morning along SR-6 after a trucker attempted to make an illegal pass of another tractor-trailer.
According to the Utah Department of Public Safety (UDPS), the deadly accident occurred at approximately 3:18 a.m. near milepost 226.
Investigators say a blue Freightliner tractor-trailer was westbound on SR-6 when it attempted to pass a slower tractor-trailer in a no-passing zone, on a grade, and on a corner.
At the same time, a red Ford F-350, driven by Baylan B. Nelson, 22, of Huntington, UT was eastbound.
The big rig attempting the illegal pass collided head-on with Nelson’s pickup truck, UDPS says.
