Washington, D.C. — Truckers leading The People’s Convoy say they will not be protesting at the Capitol Building or White House at the conclusion of their upcoming journey.

In a release issued on Sunday, organizers of the upcoming cross-country demonstration against COVID-19-related mandates said the event is part of a “peaceful and unified transcontinental movement.”

“The message of The People’s Convoy is simple… it’s time for elected officials to work with the blue-collar and white-collar workers of America and restore accountability and liberty — by lifting all mandates and ending the state of emergency — as COVID is well-in-hand now, and Americans need to get back to work in a free and unrestricted manner,” the group said.

As Transportation Nation Network (TNN) reported late last week, the protest is set to begin on Wednesday, February 23, from Adelanto, CA.

After initially providing routes for the first few days of the trip, organizers have now unveiled the full schedule — which is slated to take 11 days before arriving into the Washington, D.C. area.

However, organizers noted they would not be entering “D.C. proper,” indicating they have no intention of protesting near the Capitol Building or White House.

Last week, the United States Capitol Police (USCP) said they “are aware of plans for a series of truck convoys arriving in Washington, D.C.” around the time of President Biden’s State of the Union address — which is set for Tuesday, March 1 — and could once again erect fencing around the building as they did in the months after January 6, 2020.

“The temporary inner-perimeter fence is part of those ongoing discussions and remains an option, however at this time no decision has been made,” USCP said.

In addition, USCP officials indicated they are coordinating with the National Guard in preparation for the arrival of The People’s Convoy.

As for the cross-country trip, organizers assured the logistics planning is being assisted by “retired military personnel and security experts… in order to ensure a 100% safe, lawful, and peaceful journey.”
