Two Semis Collide Head-On After Tire Blowout Killing 3 People
San Mateo, Florida – Three people have died after two semi-trucks collided in a head-on crash on Wednesday along SR-100 in Florida.
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) said the fatal accident happened at approximately 12:45 p.m. Officials reported a tire blowout on a semi hauling cabbage may have caused the driver to lose control.
The semi then crossed into the oncoming lane and was then struck by another semi. Investigators said the driver and two passengers in the truck hauling cabbage died at the scene, while the driver of the second semi was transported to Orange Park Medical Center in critical condition.
The names of the victims have not yet been released.

The Department of Environmental Protection responded due to a spill of about 150 gallons of diesel fuel. Cabbage and debris were also strewn across the accident scene.
Emergency crews worked to clear the debris for more than 5 hours as officials closed that stretch of roadway.
This is a developing story.
