Two Truckers Arrested After 32 People Found in Refrigerated Trailer

Tucson, AZ – Two truckers were arrested in a recent human smuggling bust after attempting to smuggle 32 illegal aliens in a semi-trailer.

According to the Tucson Sector Border Patrol, the bust occurred at the Tucson immigration checkpoint along I-19 on October 14.

Agents say a tractor pulling a refrigerated trailer was referred for a secondary inspection after a K9 alerted to the big rig.

“In secondary inspection the truck and trailer were “x-rayed” showing numerous people locked in the rear of the trailer,” according to a news release.

A total of 32 migrants were discovered inside the trailer.

Officials said the temperature inside was 47 degrees and most of the individuals were “ill prepared” as most were wearing “short t-shirts.”

The two drivers were taken into custody and now face federal smuggling charges, according to officials.

The White House tweeted images from the scene yesterday in a continued effort to bring awareness to the ongoing battle at the border.
