U.S. Senator Goes For Ride in Big Rig to Support Truckers Convoying Around D.C.

Washington, D.C. — A United States senator took a ride in a big rig today in support of truckers convoying around the nation’s capital.

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) met with truckers gathered in Hagerstown, MD, on Thursday before riding along in the lead truck for a lap around the D.C. beltway.

“Thank you to every trucker who is standing up for freedom for every man, woman, and child in America!” Cruz wrote on social media.

At a press conference after the ride-along, Sen. Cruz said he was proud to stand with the truckers speaking out for the freedoms of every American and especially those who were “ordered to take the COVID vaccine or be fired.”

“Government has no right to do that,” Sen. Cruz stated. “If you make the choice to take the COVID vaccine, God bless you. You have every right to do that, but if you make the choice not to take the vaccine, that is also your right.”

Today’s events followed a meeting earlier this week between convoy organizers and Sens. Cruz and Ron Johnson (R-WI).

Thursday marked the fourth day convoy participants are circling D.C. demanding an end to the State of Emergency and COVID-19-related mandates and restrictions.
