U.S. Trucker Arrested in Large Big Rig Human Smuggling Attempt
Laredo, TX – A trucker was arrested last weekend after he was caught attempting to smuggle dozens of people into the United States illegally.
According to U.S. Border and Customs Protection (CBP), the incident occurred during the early morning hours of Sunday, April 5, when a white tractor hauling a white trailer approached the I-35 checkpoint.
During an immigration inspection of the driver, a Service K-9 alerted to the rear of the trailer.
Agents opened the trailer and discovered 32 individuals, including one juvenile, all illegally present in the U.S. from the countries of Mexico, Guatemala, Ecuador, and El Salvador.
The individuals and the driver, a U.S. citizen, were taken into custody pending investigation.

The driver was later identified in court documents as Larry Clink.
According to CBP agents, Clink did not stop at the I-35 secondary checkpoint after being referred for further inspection of a blue Volvo tractor pulling a white refrigerated trailer.
Court records indicate Clink admitted to investigators he was being paid $6,000 to drop the trailer in San Antonio.
Authorities also said he confessed to having successfully completed a similar job two weeks prior in which he was compensated $5,000.
Clink is charged with transport, attempt to transport and conspire to transport immigrants who had entered the country illegally.
