In this two-part edition of our Ultimate Test Drive series, trucking journalist Jim Park visits Mack’s test track in Allentown, PA to experience first-hand 50 years of advancements in transmission technology.

In part one, Jim puts the mDRIVE through its paces explaining some of the advances Mack integrated into this automated manual transmission that make it special. In part two he puts his ego on the line as he grinds his way around the track behind the wheel of a 1957 B61 equipped with a twin stick transmission.
