
Virginia Woman Indicted in Scheme to Cheat Trucking Company
Harrisonburg, VA – A Virginia woman has been indicted on one count of felony embezzlement following an alleged scheme to bilk a trucking company out of a substantial amount of money.
Marie Dickson, 52, of Fort Defiance, VA, has been accused of embezzling more than $95,000 from a trucking company between March 2016 and May 2020.
Local outlet NBC29 reported the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) was contacted in May by Mount Sidney-based Crosby Trucking Service Inc. regarding suspicious financial activity.
A subsequent investigation revealed more than $95,000 had been stolen from Crosby.
Dickson was arrested on Tuesday, August 4 in connection with the scheme.
She was later released on a secured bond, an ACSO representative confirmed.
ACSO did no specify Dickson’s relationship with the trucking company.
She was charged with one count of felony embezzlement.
Data from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) reveals Crosby employs 88 truck drivers.
