
WATCH: Trucker Runs From Police When Caught in Wild Human Smuggling Bust
Laredo, TX — The moment police busted a 24-year-old trucker smuggling dozens of illegal migrants inside a semi-truck cab was caught on video this week.
The bust occurred on Tuesday, January 11, when investigators with the Laredo Police Department (LPD) pulled over a bobtail semi-truck along on Interstate 35.
As police approached the vehicle, the driver identified as Dartavious Raytrell Dixon, of Houston, TX, is seen jumping out of the passenger side and fleeing.
Dixon was quickly apprehended and authorities discovered 28 illegal migrants crammed inside the semi.

Texas Department of Public Safety (TXDPS) said each illegal migrant admitted to paying up to $16,000 to be smuggled to San Antonio, TX, where they would then spread out into ten states throughout the country.
Dixon was subsequently charged with 27 counts of smuggling of a person, one count of smuggling of a person under 18 and evading arrest.
He is currently being held at the Webb County Jail on $156,000 bail.
