Widow Suing Trucker And Trucking Company In “Wrong Way” School Bus Accident

Bloomington, Illinois – The wife of a volunteer for the Normal Community West High School freshman girls basketball team, who died in December when a semi driving the wrong way collided with the team bus, has filed a lawsuit.

Charles Crabtree, 74, of Normal, perished in the crash on the evening of December 5 along westbound I-74 between Bloomington and Downs. The truck driver, Ryan Hute, 34 of Delmar, Iowa, also died.

Crabtree’s widow, Kathleen Crabtree, has filed a suit against Hute’s estate and the trucking company which employed him, Jason Farrell Trucking based in Iowa. The suit accuses Hute of failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision and failure to realize he was driving the wrong way on the interstate.

Crabtree is seeking in excess of $50,000 including the costs of the litigation.
