Will Allowing Younger Drivers Behind The Wheel Solve ‘Driver Shortage’?

Indiana (WTIU/WFIU News) – Here’s an interesting report we found about the root causes and proposed measures to solve the so-called ‘driver shortage.’ A news program called Indiana Newsdesk took on this issue and filed a pretty good report. As the report points out, many trucking companies are asking Congress to get involved and support “The Drive Safe Act” which would allow certain drivers under the age of 21-years-old the opportunity to operate a commercial big rig from coast-to-coast. Trucking groups like OOIDA oppose the measure and have long argued the ‘driver shortage’ is a myth. The real problem, they say, is a driver pay and fair treatment shortage.
