“Wisconsinites Worst Nightmare” As Load Of Cheese Is Grilled On Interstate
Milwaukee, WI – It was called “every Wisconsinites worst nightmare,” as a trailer full of cheese caught fire late Friday morning on Interstate 43 in Milwaukee.
The Journal Sentinel said trucker Willy Brown was driving southbound on I-43 around 11 a.m. when he “heard an explosion.”
According to the Sentinel, the driver pulled off the highway near the Atkinson exit ramp.
That’s when he saw flames “out from the back end of the semi.”
Brown was able to unhook the truck and pull away to avoid damage to the tractor, according to the Sentinel.
However, the trailer full of American cheese single slices appears to have been a total loss.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office reported the southbound lanes of I-43 at the Keeve Avenue off-ramp would be closed for several hours while clean-up crews work.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze without any injury or additional damage, but the loss of cheese, especially in Wisconsin, is always a tragic occurrence.
