Woman Dies After Found Unresponsive In Semi At Flying J, Trucker In Police Custody
Alorton, Illinois – Alorton Police say a woman died Wednesday after she was found unresponsive inside a big rig at a Flying J in Alorton, Illinois.
Alorton Police Chief Dave Clark said police were called to a Flying J off of I-255 at 1:36 p.m. and found a woman, later identified as Brittany O’Fallon, unconscious in a semi-truck. O’Fallon was transported by EMS to a nearby hospital and was pronounced dead at 2:15 p.m.
“When officers arrived on scene EMS was already there. They said she had a pulse. They took the female from the 18-wheel truck and transported her to Touchette Regional Hospital,” Clark said.
A cause of death has not yet been determined, but investigators on the scene suspected it was in relation to a drug overdose. Clark said a 49-year-old truck driver from Rolla, Missouri, was with her inside the truck at the time.
According to Clark, the truck driver, whose name has not yet been released, was the one who made the 9-1-1 call for help. Clark said the truck driver told them he knew O’Fallon.
Clark also confirmed the trucker was in police custody and being questioned in the matter. “We are waiting to gather evidence to make sure it is not a homicide,” Clark said. “Right now, we are treating it as a suspicious death.”
