Woman Facing Charges After Swiping Wallet From Trucker She Asked For A Ride
Dothan, Alabama – A Dothan woman has been charged with three counts of illegal possession of credit/debit cards, and one count of receiving stolen property after police say she stole the wallet of a truck driver she asked for a ride.
According to Dothan Police Lt. Lynn Watkins, April Nichole Chapman, 36, was arrested on February 15, after an acquaintance of Chapman’s learned she had the wallet and alerted authorities.
“After the wallet was in Chapman’s possession at some point and time, she showed the wallet to an acquaintance and the acquaintance looked through the wallet to find contact information for the truck driver,” Lt. Lynn Watkins said. “The acquaintance made contact with the driver and the driver instructed her to call law enforcement.”
Lt. Watkins said Chapman asked a truck driver, whose identity was not revealed, for a ride. The trucker obliged and during the ride Chapman swiped the driver’s wallet.
Chapman is out of jail on bonds totaling $3,500.
