
Woman Makes Escape at Truck Stop After Trucker Kidnapped and Assaulted Her, Police Say
Troutdale, OR – A Washington trucker is facing kidnapping charges after a woman accused him of transporting her from California to Oregon against her will this week.
Deputies from the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) were dispatched to a Love’s Travel Stop located at 400 Northwest Frontage Road shortly before midnight on Wednesday after a woman reported she had been kidnapped and assaulted by a trucker.
According to a release from MCSO obtained by Transportation Nation Network (TNN), the victim was able to escape the semi-truck where she was allegedly being held against her will.
Authorities say was able to escape to a nearby convenience store, where deputies were notified and dispatched to the scene.
The adult woman, whose identity has not been released, told investigators she had traveled from California to Oregon with 49-year-old Lanny Bieroth of Spokane.
She also accused Bieroth of assaulting her.
Bieroth was located inside a nearby big rig, where he was taken into custody.
The victim was transported to a hospital for evaluation.
There is no update on her condition.

Bieroth is currently being held on a $250,000 bail at the Multnomah County Jail.
He is facing charges of Kidnapping in the Second Degree.
Additionally, MCSO officials predict he will face additional charges in other jurisdictions as well.
